Community Investment Fund open
Published: 24 June 2024
Ports North’s inaugural Community Investment Fund is providing dedicated support for community-building initiatives. Not-for-profit individuals and organisations can apply to receive up to $10,000 worth of goods or services that will further their impact.
The Fund is a chance to put more power in the hands of the people that help their community to thrive. Applicants who operate within Ports North’s footprint and facilitate programs that improve financial capability or enhance social supports, are encouraged to apply.
Ports North General Manager Strategy Paul Doyle said supporting local communities was an important factor in operating a responsible business.
“Ports North is uniquely positioned as an important part of Far North Queensland’s social fabric. We can use our position to influence better lives and livelihoods in the communities where we operate,” he said.
“An important part of our role is supporting the causes that are meaningful to our people, business partners and the public.
“The Community Investment Fund will assist grassroots and community organisations to have a bigger effect. We know there are many passionate people that need a helping hand to continue positively impacting people in their local area.”
Funding will support applicants who are planning to achieve one or more of the following outcomes:
-Develop capability in the maritime, or related, industries.
-Enhance community safety and wellbeing.
-Deepen cultural connection.
-Protect and enhance natural environments.
Applications for the 2024 round of funding have now closed.
