Ports North, the Port Authority for nine regional ports in Far North Queensland, is calling for recent and future graduates to apply for their Graduate Development Program. This year, the organisation is seeking three participants from the fields of Civil Engineering, Information and Communications Technology and Sustainability and Environment.

Ports North’s Executive Manager Corporate Services, Leanne Ferguson said the Graduate Development Program is part of Ports North’s commitment to attracting more young people to opportunities in the port industry.

“As a major employer in the region, we are on the lookout for the next group of graduates to bring their talent and enthusiasm to our organisation. These roles will offer them the opportunity to be part of a team that creates economic opportunities and connects communities.” Leanne said.

“Graduates entering the two-year program will receive an in-depth experience of our port infrastructure business and exposure to highly skilled staff. They will get professional development and training as part of a tailored program of work to help them along their career path.”

Commenting on the program, Leanne said that the Graduate Development Program provides a pathway into an exciting industry.

Our graduate program gives young and reskilling candidates the chance to develop their career in an industry with a big future.” Leanne said.

“Our ports are multi-dimensional, with diverse operations and locations making no two days the same. Our business is going through a transformational period and we recognise the importance of creating an environment that supports initiative, innovation and performance among our staff.”
