Ports North is responsible for the development and management of port facilities vital to the economic growth of Cairns and regional centres in Far North Queensland.  The Corporation has extensive property, marina, tourism and cargo facilities in Cairns and its regional ports. 

 An excellent opportunity exists for a dedicated and proactive individual responsible for supporting our Project Delivery Team with the delivery of projects, while assisting with the project oversight, governance and support to ensure projects are executed effectively.

 You will play an important role in ensuring seamless coordination, communication and administration of delivery activities to meet the Infrastructure team objectives. Main responsibilities will include:

 Assist the Project Delivery team in planning, organising, and managing project activities to ensure timely and successful project delivery.

  • Maintain and update project schedules, milestones, and deadlines, tracking progress and identifying potential delays or issues.
  • Managing small to medium size projects from initiation through to completion. 
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of program and project frameworks and processes to standardise the practice and improve performance across the Infrastructure team.
  • Implement initiatives designed to review, monitor and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of outcomes delivery across the infrastructure projects team
  • Report on team project program performance
  • Identify opportunities for continual improvement of the overall project delivery
  • Manage project documentation, including contracts, reports, drawings, and correspondence, ensuring accurate and timely filing and retrieval.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project team members, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of project reports, presentations, procurement documentation and updates for project leadership and stakeholders.
  • Monitor project budgets and expenditures, assisting in financial tracking, invoice processing, and cost control.
  • Support Project Engineers in managing project delivery and progress claims.
  • Identify and escalate project risks, issues, and discrepancies, providing recommendations for resolution.
  • Support the quality assurance and control processes, ensuring project deliverables meet required standards and specifications.

The position requires a highly organized and detailed orientated individual with the ability to manage project activities in a timely manner and facilitate successful project delivery with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and proven ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively.

A diploma in Project Management and a minimum of three years experience in a similar role is desirable.
